With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

When the lockdowns started happening in 2020, I was blissfully unaware of my future in music! I've always loved playing around with songs and instruments, and I've written songs just because it's simply what I did.

But in February of 2021 I realized, hey, I've got a lot of songs here. I think I could get them produced. And it's been a crazy learning journey ever since. I've mostly been recording and releasing singles and collaborating with other artists doing the same.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

I've been lucky that I kept my regular job in digital media throughout COVID, and I'm so new that I wasn't a touring musician before COVID started, so I didn't have to deal with any tour cancellations or anything.

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

Haha, music IS the way I fill my free time. I work full-time in a Content Director role with an indie digital media company, and in my free time I make songs, act, and write screenplays.

For my mental health, I keep a pretty healthy routine overall—I prioritize getting good sleep, and I stay away from drinking too much, eat decently healthy, and do fun workouts like barre class to stay active, etc. Something important to me is quiet, alone time—although I post on social media to share my art, I don't really use social media at all. I try to get offline as much as possible and I spend a lot of time out for walks or alone with my thoughts.

I also love writing the Morning Pages (a practice from Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way")—a short daily writing exercise that keeps me feeling centered.

I've had my down times with mental health, but these past couple of years have been great.

How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?

Oh geez it's the 5th wave? I'm still cruisin', same as before. I am still learning to play live in front of an audience (I'm more of a recording artist right now), so it'll be a while before I'm ready to think about touring.

My plans for 2022 are to release a bunch of singles (6 so far, but we'll see), and make a legit music video for the first time! I've made just one before for one of my songs, and it was homemade on iMovie with footage from friends and family. It was fun, but I'm also excited to try and make something with higher production value.

Favourite Starlite Room Moment?

Never been, but I hope I get there someday!

Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?

However you feel right now is how you feel, and that is perfectly fine. We invest way too much time into trying to not feel the way we feel, and it's kinda pointless. So just give yourself a break, feel how you feel, and just be there.
